INVITATION :: IN THE WOODS

Every wedding has their own tone, their own look, their own way about them. Invitations are a great way of setting the tone and giving a glimpse of what's to come on the big day. This lovely invitation is for a wedding ceremony held under trees – pretty suiting don't you think?

These beauties were designed by Chase Kettl of San Diego for her own wedding. The design was created in Adobe Illustrator and then laser cut into thin planks. She then simply printed her design on the accompanying mustard stock, threaded it through, and voila! Definitely the kind of invitation you'd hold on to forever. But I think my favourite part was the envelope seal...

Aww, love it, almost too special to open! As always, with seeing such special invitations as these, I always get highly curious as to what the actual wedding day entailed. After a slight amount of stalking, I found out! Check out their cute wedding video here.

DAD :: AUTHOR, PHOTOGRAPHER, MUSICIAN

Are we born with a similar skill set to our parents, or do we subconsciously take on their skills and interests as we grow? I'm not sure how I was given them, but I have definitely adopted certain talents that my parents have. Mum and Dad both have an incredible eye for aesthetic amazingness, as well as a real knack with the written word... both skills that I utilize in my job everyday.

When Dad began hankering for a new online space, I was more than happy to come up with a little look for him. Dad is an avid scuba diver – he even discovered a new species of fish, known as the Carpenter's Perch. He has often combined his love of photography with the underwater world to take some amazing shots of life under the sea. I knew I had to include an element of the ocean when it came to making Dad's mark!

SWATCH WATCH :: IT'LL BE ALL WHITE

White and black have a mystical quality to them, but of the two shades, white is definitely my favourite. White can magically open up small spaces in a house, but just as it can be airy and refreshing, it can also become cold, sterile, and void of life. Ben and I often joke that if we ever have a house with a shared computer/office space, we would have to paint a big strip down the middle of the room and have half of it black and half white – our gear is almost exactly opposite!

WEEKENDS :: CLUTTER RECOVERY

Hello, my name is Lucy Olive, and I am a recovering clutter addict.

Ok, so my habits could have been worse, but for a while there in my younger days, I had issues. My bedroom was so crammed with stuff that I pretty much had to swim through it. It's a common side-effect of being a bit of a magpie – I just couldn't throw out anything that looked appealing to me, and was constantly adding to the collection. I hoarded all kinds of thing, from photos and bottle caps to figurines and acorns.

FILM :: SIMPLE THINGS

Alright, it's movie time. If you haven't seen this little film floating around the internet, now's your chance to watch this stunning little something. It's often the simplest things in life that are the most pleasurable – the first bite of a watermelon, shooting a goal in football, jumping in puddles. Check out the video below, I'm rather fond it.

SWATCH WATCH :: GOOD AS GOLD

Gold, glorious gold. One of those ancient materials that has always been associated with things that are special – treasures, monuments, halos and cherished trinkets. I am in no way a gold girl, but I do admire how the glint of this precious metal can add something special... a foil on a special package, a badge on a blazer, a tiny stud on a nose. I like gold as a final, glimmering accent – not too much!

WEEKENDS :: BAKING BOTCH UP

Ok, so I was making some lemon and white chocolate muffins, and it was all going fine... until I got creative. Because I'm a lemon fiend, I decided to alter the recipe a little. Er... or maybe a lot. I ended up with these squidgey, gooey, flat lemon patties. That's what happens when you multiply the lemon juice requirements by three! But guess what? They were still zingy and delicious. And they looked kind of cute stacked up between layers of white chocolate. Thankfully this baking botch up was still edible!

THE SWEETEST RECIPE

Creating an identity is one thing, rolling it out is another – and is always so much fun! You may remember me posting about the Made From Scratch identity/blog redesign I worked on... well, Rachael has since branched out from blogging into baking classes, and needed some cute little recipe cards for her delicious creations. I loved making these up, they make such sweet little sets!

WEEKENDS :: SEPTEMBER + SPRING

Spring has arrived, and I'm hoping it will make itself at home very soon. I've had a very laid back weekend as my body recovers from overdoing it on the computer – Friday was spent in discomfort with my head stuck on one side and a prompt visit to the physiotherapist, yeowch! Hence why I shut down the computer this weekend and got out the ol' sketchbook, doodling this homage to the first month of spring.
