STORYBOOK SCULPTURES

Some people hog all the talent, and artist Guy Laramee is one of those people... damn him. Then again, he has had 30 years of practice. But that's been practice in theater writing and directing, contemporary music composition, musical instrument design and building, singing, video, scenography, sculpture, installation, painting... and he's also managed to squeeze in writing a book or two. Share the skills around would you?

Here are some of Guy's latest sculptural works created from a simple medium – the humble book. I absolutely love the dramatic nature scenes he fashions out of old, heavy volumes. I love what he had to say about his work: "it may depict landscapes that inspire serenity, but this is the serenity that you arrive at after traaversing life crisis. You can paint a flower as a hobby, but you can also paint a flower as you come back from war. The same flower apparently, but not really the same."

    1. Yep, I love the Mt Fuji looking one... I wonder what the spine of the book says?
