DAD :: AUTHOR, PHOTOGRAPHER, MUSICIAN

Are we born with a similar skill set to our parents, or do we subconsciously take on their skills and interests as we grow? I'm not sure how I was given them, but I have definitely adopted certain talents that my parents have. Mum and Dad both have an incredible eye for aesthetic amazingness, as well as a real knack with the written word... both skills that I utilize in my job everyday.

When Dad began hankering for a new online space, I was more than happy to come up with a little look for him. Dad is an avid scuba diver – he even discovered a new species of fish, known as the Carpenter's Perch. He has often combined his love of photography with the underwater world to take some amazing shots of life under the sea. I knew I had to include an element of the ocean when it came to making Dad's mark!

I took the silhouette of a sting-ray (Dad also has one of these tattooed on his arm!) to create his 'stamp'. Using this silhouette within a circular device emulates his actions in capturing the creature within the round camera lens. The ray's tail curves to make the shape of a 'j'. No identity is complete without a shiny new business card – simple, classy, with a bit of Dad's personality shining through. He's up to plenty of creative things over on his website, click here!

  2. That looks awesome! Love the stingray silhouette!
    I don't know how we get our parents skills but I swore I'd never end up a teacher (like my mum was and my dad now is) and yet I'm studying early childhood now! Haha!

    1. Oh my gosh Lydia, I know what you mean! My mum worked in advertising, and now I too work at an agency – though I used to try and resist her thoughts on what I should do 'when I grew up'! I guess she just had a good idea of what I was good at, and I was busy being a rebellious child. ;) Hope you go well with your studies!

  3. In today's fast-paced world, a good night's sleep is often elusive. Stress, lifestyle choices, and various health conditions can disrupt our sleep patterns, leading to fatigue, irritability, and a decrease in overall well-being. While the market is flooded with ayurvedic sleeping pills, many of them come with side effects and dependencies. Fortunately, Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, offers natural remedies to promote deep and restful sleep. In this article, we will explore Ayurvedic medicine for sleep and alternative solutions to traditional sleeping pills.
